BYC was founded in 2007 as a division of Centro Study Bhaktivedanta, Incorporated (CSB) to introduce CSB’s educational programs within the USA. CSB was originally established in 1995 in Italy as a non-profit educational institution recognized by the Italian Government.
Since its establishment, CSB has been offering its educational programs by means of academic conferences and seminars as well as certificate and degree programs primarily via distance-learning methods throughout Italy and the rest of the world. During 2007 alone, hosted nearly five (5) thousand participants at its conferences and seminars and, since its inception, has enrolled nearly 500 students in its degree and certificate programs.

Within Italy, CSB has offered its educational programs in collaboration with many of the most prestigious and historic academic institutions of the Italian Renaissance, such as the Universities of Siena, Pisa, Bologna, and Milano. Among its most significant collaborations, the Italian Ministry of Health has officially endorsed CSB’s seminars on psychological aid to terminally ill patients for the continuing education training of medical staff throughout Italy. From 1996 through 2001, CSB collaborated with the University of the Studies of Siena, Literature and Philosophy Faculty, by organizing refresher courses in relation to comparative studies between Hindu and Christian philosophical traditions for all types and levels of teachers with the City of Siena Study Authority.

From 1997 through 2000, CSB collaborated with the Institute of Germanic Culture of the city of Bologna by organizing a series of lectures on Indovedic Philosophy and Psychology with comparisons and references to western psychological thought.

In 1997, CSB collaborated with ISIAO (Italian Institute for Africa and the East) for a series of three lectures on Indovedic Philosophy and Psychology.

In 1997, CSB collaborated with the University of Milan, Political Science Faculty, by organizing a lecture on “Vedic Sources of Civilization.”

From 1997 through 2007, CSB collaborated with the Interreligious Center of Agliati by organizing conferences on Inter-Religious Studies.

From 1999 through 2000, CSB collaborated with the University of the Adults of Pisa, by organizing two academic courses on: “Life, Death, and Immortality: Freedom from Fear and Suffering.”

In 2000, CSB collaborated with the Hospital of Pontedera, Scientific Committee of Otolaryngologist Studies with an event entitled: “Dysphonia: how much is it larynx and how much is it psyche? The contribution of the Vedas in Western Psychological Thought.”

From 2003 through 2007, CSB has collaborated with the Italian Ministry of Health for the organization of E.C.M. (Continuous Medical Education) events to teach doctors, psychologists, and all medical personnel the subject: “Psychology of Assistance to the Terminal Ill and their Family Members.”

In 2003, CSB collaborated with theater Gobetti in Torino for a conference on the subject: “Psychology, Yoga, and Ayurveda: from Existential Uneasiness to the Development of Human Potential.”
