BYC was founded in 2007 as a division of Centro Study Bhaktivedanta, Incorporated (CSB) to introduce CSB’s educational programs within the USA. CSB was originally established in 1995 in Italy as a non-profit educational institution recognized by the Italian Government. Since its establishment, CSB has been offering its educational programs by means of academic conferences and seminars as well as certificate and degree programs primarily via distance-learning methods throughout Italy and the rest of the world. During 2007 alone, hosted nearly five (5) thousand participants at its conferences and seminars and, since its inception, has enrolled nearly 500 students in its degree and certificate programs. Within Italy, CSB has offered its educational programs in collaboration with many of the most prestigious and historic academic institutions of the Italian Renaissance, such as the Universities of Siena, Pisa, Bologna, and Milano. Among its most significant collaborations, the Italian Ministry of Health has officially endorsed CSB’s seminars on psychological aid to terminally ill patients for the continuing education training of medical staff throughout Italy. Other highlights of CSB collaboration throughout its history include: From 1996 through 2001, CSB collaborated with the University of the Studies of Siena, Literature and Philosophy Faculty, by organizing refresher courses in relation to comparative studies between Hindu and Christian philosophical traditions for all types and levels of teachers with the City of Siena Study Authority. From 1997 through 2000, CSB collaborated with the Institute of Germanic Culture of the city of Bologna by organizing a series of lectures on Indovedic Philosophy and Psychology with comparisons and references to western psychological thought. In 1997, CSB collaborated with ISIAO (Italian Institute for Africa and the East) for a series of three lectures on Indovedic Philosophy and Psychology. In 1997, CSB collaborated with the University of Milan, Political Science Faculty, by organizing a lecture on “Vedic Sources of Civilization.” From 1997 through 2007, CSB collaborated with the Interreligious Center of Agliati by organizing conferences on Inter-Religious Studies. In 1998, CSB collaborated with the University of the Studies of Pisa, Department of Modern History, by organizing an event on: “Ramayana: Overview of its Main Sociological, Psychological, and Philosophical Contents.” In 1998, CSB collaborated with the University La Sapienza in Rome, Department of Oriental Studies, by organizing an event on: “Paths and Practices of Devotion: Psychological Therapies and Individuation of the Self.” From 1999 through 2000, CSB collaborated with the University of the Adults of Pisa, by organizing two academic courses on: “Life, Death, and Immortality: Freedom from Fear and Suffering.” In 2000, CSB collaborated with the University of the Adults of Viareggio, by organizing an event on: “Journey beyond the Borders: Conscience and Perception of Life in the Civilization of the Vedas.” In 2000, CSB collaborated with the Hospital of Pontedera, Scientific Committee of Otolaryngologist Studies with an event entitled: “Dysphonia: how much is it larynx and how much is it psyche? The contribution of the Vedas in Western Psychological Thought.” In 2000, CSB collaborated with the Vidya Theater of Roma with an event entitled: “Vaishnava Ethics and Aesthetics in Self Realization.” In 2001, CSB collaborated with the University of the Studies of Pisa, Bioethical Center, with the organization of an event on “Religions and Bioethics of the Beginning of Life.” In 2002, CSB collaborated with the Rezzara Institute of Social Sciences of Vicenza for the organization of refresher courses for teachers of all levels recognized by the Studies Authority of Vicenza. In 2002, CSB collaborated with the Music Conservatory for an event on “Source of Inspiration: the Influence of Sound on Psyche in the Civilization of the Vedas.” In 2002, CSB collaborated with the Superior Institute of Religious Sciences San Pietro Martire in Verona for a course of two lessons dedicated to a comparative study between the psychophysical in Hindu and Christian traditions. In 2003, CSB collaborated with the Press Club of Torino for a series of conferences on the “Thought of India between Myth and History.” From 2003 through 2007, CSB has collaborated with the Italian Ministry of Health for the organization of E.C.M. (Continuous Medical Education) events to teach doctors, psychologists, and all medical personnel the subject: “Psychology of Assistance to the Terminal Ill and their Family Members.” In 2003, CSB collaborated with theater Gobetti in Torino for a conference on the subject: “Psychology, Yoga, and Ayurveda: from Existential Uneasiness to the Development of Human Potential.” From 2003 through 2004, CSB collaborated with the Order of the Psychologists of the Lombardia Region for the organization of continuing education events credited by the Italian Ministry of Health for doctors, psychologists, and all medical personnel. In 2004, CSB collaborated with the Dealer Association of Massa for an event on “Consciousness and Communication.” From 2004 through 2005, CSB collaborated with the State Institute “E. Montale” of Pontedera, Linguistic, Pedagogic, and Natural Science School, for the organization of courses on the “Psychological Science of Classic India.” In 2005, CSB collaborated with Zucchi Clinical Institutes of Carate Brianza for the organization of a Medical Continuous Education event. In 2005, CSB collaborated with the Medical Center Marani of Verona for the organization of Medical Continuous Education events sponsored by the Order of the Veneto Region Psychologists. In 2005, CSB collaborated with the National Artisan Confederation of Pistoia for an event on “Psychology of Wellbeing in Leadership: Knowledge, Behavior, and Management of Human Resources.” From 2005 through 2006, CSB collaborated with the Hospital of Bellaria for the organization of Medical Continuing Education courses sponsored by the Physicians, Surgeons, and Dentists Association of Bologna and the Psychologists and Physicians Association of the Emilia Romagna Region. From 2005 through 2007, CSB collaborated with the University of the Studies of Bologna for the organization of a conference on “Psychology and Philosophy of Classical India.” In 2006, CSB collaborated with the Chamber of Commerce of Vicenza, Torino, and Bologna for events entitled: “Management of Human Resources: Ethics of a Sustainable Prosperity.” In 2006, CSB collaborated with the University of the Studies of Siena, Communication Sciences Department, for the organization of an Academic Course on the “Influence of Sound on Psyche.” In 2007, CSB collaborated with the University of the Studies of Siena, Literature, and Philosophy Faculty, for the organization of a Convention on the “Hindu Tradition.”
